Butch, alone.

After losing his life long partner, Angel, last week, Butch seemed a bit lost or maybe that's just Butch being Butch.

Goodbye Angel

Angel had been feeling a bit sick recently and she wasn't putting on any weight despite having a good appetite. Over the weekend, she took a sudden turn for the worse and developed breathing problems. She was brought into a vet who diagnosed her with some severe lung disease (I'm not sure about the details) and it was decided to euthanize her.

Her partner, Butch is now alone and although he has to adjust to being a single dog, hopefully, that will make finding a home for him a bit easier. He's been at TAS South much too long.


Angel, I hope you're up in heaven, ensconced on some soul's warm lap, barking to your heart's content while you wait for the day you're together with your best friend once again.

Update on Victor and Luna

From Victor's (aka Quincy) owners to TAS:

I wanted to send you this picture of Inka AKA Luna and Quincy AKA Victor who met at the park on Monday. They have become very good friends.

Thanks for all your hard work in trying to get them a home. Quincy is doing very well and we love him very much.


Looks like someone used the shrink ray machine on Luna and ended up with Victor (or vice versa).

Sometimes I need an editor

Dakota, a Beagle, and Butch and Angel, a couple of bonded Miniature Pinschers, have not been adopted yet and I think part of the reason is that the photos I originally took of them rather suck. So, a couple of days ago I took them out for a reshoot and I'm thinking the results are better.

I don't know what I was thinking letting that one get used. It's really not a very flattering shot at all.

Here are a couple of new ones. The first one will be the new TAS adoption website photo. The second one may be used as an additional photo on the TAS Petfinder site:



I hope the new photos bring some more interest for Dakota. She's way too good a dog to still be in adoption.

I wish the main TAS adoption website could handle multiple images because these two funny faces really need a bunch of photos to reveal the full range of their personalities:

It would be nice to be able to upload videos as well so that potential adopters can be shown what to expect when they show up. One of the problems Butch and Angel have is their lousy cage presentation. They act like a couple of little wingnuts when they first see someone:



But really, they're just starved for attention and as soon as they get some, they chill right out:



Problem is, most people don't get beyond the initial barking. These two really are a lovely pair together.

Crazy pair of evils

Well, they're not that crazy and they're not that evil but they lookit sometimes with their odd but endearing shaped heads. These two Miniature Pinschers are a bonded pair of shrimpkins and will be adopted out together. Butch, the male, needs to lose a bunch of weight as his head no longer looks like it's the right match for his porker paunch. His platonic soul mate, Angel, doesn't need to lose weight but she does seem a bit lumpy. Maybe he could pass some of his food her way to help her fill out a bit to round out those bumps.

Whatever it is, I'm sure they can work it out. As far as couples go, they seem pretty stuck on each other.

Update on Victor

Toronto Animal Services Friday review, August 14

Miniature Pinschers can sometimes be a little snippy but Victor's a real love bug:



Magnum's a Doberman crossed with mystery dog - maybe Lab? - and he's a bit underweight but I suspect when he's well nourished and up to a proper weight, he's going to be one strong boy. Lucky, he's fairly good on a leash, knows some basic commands and is an all round happy dog:



Jessie's a Beagle who loves to talk. She says hello to everyone she passes - no joke. She's very social so I hope whoever gets her, appreciates a chatterbox:
