My guys stuck one toenail outside and they were whining and crying and limping after about a minute and a half. They have coats and scarves to boot. Well, they don't have boots which may have caused the rebellion. There is no way I am putting on three coats, three scarves, 12 boots, my own hat, scarf, coat and boots to go outside for 90 seconds. We stay inside. They have a huge box of toys and an indoor agility set. I throw the ball down the hall and they run after it...we repeat this to the point of nausea. Then we do some training..now that exhausts them and we wait for the spring. Can you imagine any poor soul out there in this weather? That is not right, human or animal.
Stella's getting to be like one of those wee hairless dogs that shiver in the cold all the time except that she's 140 pounds and has a big winter coat I put on her.
I know what you mean about dressing the dogs. It takes time, especially when one of them just keeps wanting to go back to bed.
My guys LOVE the snow! Jill bounds through it like she's running through water, with the biggest smile on her face. Jack lays down in it and waits for Jill to run by him so he can attack her.
But we're super-lucky to live on an acreage and have lots of running room.
Fred, do you want to be outside in this weather in a hair shirt...Stella is one smart dog...do your business, back to bed....... Let the fool humans run around outside..... Hey, I was born on the Alaska Highway near Dawson Creek and lived most of my life in Sudbury....let me tell you, winter exercise is highly overrated....
Its funny because I've noticed some dogs are super sensitive to this weather/salt and don't last more than 5 minutes while others, my girl included, think this weather is the greatest thing ever. I must admit though Its only december and I am sick of all the bundling up already. I am having fun in the snow though which is something I havn't said in about 10 years!!! I actually climbed a big snow mountain in the parking lot and slid down it like I was 12 years old again!!!!Fun!
